Allison Duncan

Allison George Leslie 'Flea' Duncan (b. 25 November 1946, Dunrossness) is a Shetland Islands Council for the Shetland South ward, representing the area since 2007.

Political Career

Duncan was first elected in 2007 Shetland Islands Council election for Shetland South, a three-member ward, together with Jim Budge and Rick Nickerson. In 2012, he stood once again and was successfully re-elected, together with Billy Fox and George Smith.

Personal Life

Allison, better known to most people in Shetland as 'Da Flea', is a crofter from Dunrossness. Until he retired he worked in the income & recovery department of the SIC. Allison is a very passionate football fan, coach, and referee.

On the morning the 2007 election results were announced, Duncan was one of those who couldn't hang around for interviews with the press as he had to get home for the lambing.

He is a distant relative of Sinclair Duncan (first cousin twice removed to Sinclair's wife) and a very distant cousin of Andrew Duncan (8th cousin twice removed to Andrew's wife)
