Robert John Smith (b. 2 April 1871, Camb, Yell, d. 5 March 1948, Yell) was a merchant and County Councillor for Yell North from 1932 until his death in 1948.

Robert Smith was a merchant, and had a business at Gossabrough, East Yell where all the family were born. Then after the First World War he bought the property at Ravensgio, Mid Yell, from his wife's uncle William Watson Johnson, where he had the business until his death. Jemima Jane and her husband carried on the business until 1955 when it was sold and they moved to Aberdeen.
