George Johnston

George Johnston (b. 23 Jan 1859, Wadbister, Whiteness, d. 8 Apr 1928, Tresta) was a merchant and a County Councillor for Aithsting between 1896 and December 1898.

Biography

George ran a shop in Tresta, which had been founded by his grandfather. George owned considerable land around Tresta and Gruting. His shop was licenced to sell alcohol until the Temperance vote. For some years, George also ran the post office in Tresta, as well as a restaurant.
