Shetland History Online is an effort to digitise Shetland's historical and contemporary states in the form of an online encyclopedia. There are currently 1,279 in the encyclopedia.
It draws inspiration from the now-defunct Shetlopedia.com website which performed this role from 2006 until 2012. In 2012, Shetlopedia was taken offline and has not returned despite the hopes of many users and thus Shetland History Online was created to fill the much-requested void.
