The constituency of Dunrossness only ever saw three elections. Since 1890, constituents of Dunrossness had fallen under Dunrossness North or Dunrossness South but due to the Local Government (Scotland) Act of 1973, Dunrossness was made a single constituency. However in the following election, 1978, it was again divided into Dunrossness North and Dunrossness South, only to once again become a united constituency for the 1999 election.
