This picture is from the early 1920's and is of all the Post Office Staff. A young William G. Smith can be seen in the back row, third from the left. The man to the left of him is Charles Manson, who was also a councillor. Also in this photo is Robert Blance, who would go on to be provost, second from the right in the back row, and John Gear, third from the right on the bottom row, his face shadowed.<br>Photo from Shetland Museum.

William Guthrie 'Bill' Smith (b. 19 June 1897, Mid Yell, d. 28 February 1942, Glasgow) was the Lerwick postman and Lerwick Town Councillor until his death in 1942.
