William 'Billy' Fox (b. 1 February 1954, Lerwick) is a Shetland Islands Councillor, representing Shetland Central since 2012. He was also an Independent candidate for the 2011 Scottish Parliament election.

Biography

In his early career, Billy worked in the building trade as well as the Nature Conservancy Council and some years off at the fishing. After that, he worked for 22 years for BP at Sullom Voe, first as a jetty operator and ending as a Shift Team Leader.

He founded the environmental anti-Viking Energy windfarm pressure group Sustainable Shetland, which grew to over 800 members under his leadership.

He challenged incumbent Tavish Scott at the 2011 Scottish Parliament election and achieved a respectable 30% of the vote - the highest of any independent candidate on the Constituency ballot.
