'''James Anderson Daniel''' (b. 21 September [[1924]], St Machars, Aberdeen) is a former accountant and [[Lerwick Town Council]]lor from [[1955]] until his resignation in [[1962]], always standing as an independent.

One of his sons, Hamish, worked for the Foreign Office and has held such titles as Ambassador to East Timor and Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, Pakistan.
