William Bruce (b. 14 March 1882, Whalsay, d. 18 January 1943, Lerwick) was a ship carpenter and Lerwick Town Councilor.
He unsuccessfully contested the 1920 and the 1930 Lerwick Town Council election, as well as the 1921 Lerwick Town Council by-election.
Biography
At the age of 14, William became an apprentice with Robertson and Sinclair, carpenters at Garthspool. After serving his time with them, he began working with John W. Robertson, who at that time was the owner of the Malakoff Slipway. He reached the rank of Foreman and continued to hold that position when Malakoff were acquired by Innes Smith in 1928.
He was a member of the Labour Party in Shetland.
