Raymond Ronald William 'Ray' Bentley (b. 19 November 1923, Bourne, Lincolnshire, d. 7 August 1992, Lerwick) was a civil aviation fireman and County Councillor for Dunrossness South between 1967 and 1975, then again from 1978 to 1986.
He unsuccessfully contested the Dunrossness Seat at the inaugural Shetland Islands Council election in 1974 and the Dunrossness South seat at the 1986 Shetland Islands Council election.
Biography
Raymond first came to Shetland with the Royal Air Force during WWII, where he met and married a local woman, and remained for the rest of his life. He worked at Sumburgh Airport for 36 years and was the final Vice Convener of the Zetland County Council, from 1973.
