James William Irvine (b. 1877, Dunrossness, d. 2 February 1952, Lerwick) was a Lerwick Town Councillor.

He unsuccessfully contested the 1929 Lerwick Town Council election.

Biography

When James left school, he worked in the Post Office in Boddam, and when he came to Lerwick he was employed in Malcolmsons & Co, bakery.

He served a four year apprentice in a ship chandlery in Aberdeen, and when the returned to Lerwick he worked with Russell Anderson. At the time of James's death, he had run his own business for more than 40 years.
