James Daniel as he appeared in the Shetland Times, 1958.

James Anderson Daniel (b. 21 September 1924, St Machars, Aberdeen, d. 2020, Inverurie) was a former accountant and Lerwick Town Councillor from 1955 until his resignation in 1962, always standing as an independent.

Biography

James was the Honorary Secretary of the Sandwick Scouts in 1962 and became Scout Commissioner in November 1964. In 1975, he was the treasurer for the Shetland Fisherman's Association.

One of his sons, Hamish, worked for the Foreign Office and has held such titles as Ambassador to East Timor and Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, Pakistan.
