James John Gordon (b. 24 October 1891, Cunningsburgh, d. 3 June 1978, Dunrossness) was a County Councillor for Dunrossness South between 1955 and 1964.

He unsuccessfully contested the Nesting seat at the 1929 County Council election.

Biography

In his youth, James went to the whaling off Greenland on the Dundee whaler Scotia. Upon his death, the Convener Alexander I Tulloch credited James with coming to the aid of his Fair Isle constituents when there was doubt about the ongoing survival of the islands, through the Fair Isle Conference, which occurred 7 and 8 June 1956.
