Henry Henderson

Henry Henderson (b. 31 May 1840, Quarff, d. 11 June 1910, Leith) was a Methodist preacher and briefly a Zetland County Councillor, representing Burra from February 1898 until December 1898, where he was beaten out by Scalloway hotelier Charles Lennie.
He left Shetland at a young age to move to England, but after living in England for a period of 18 to 20 years, he chose to return to Shetland. When he returned, he set up the International Organisation of Good Templars (IOGT) in Burra. The IOGT was a religious organisation aimed at reducing the harm caused by alcohol. He also provided local updates to the Shetland Times of the happenings in Burra.
He was a preacher at the Wesleyan Church in Burra for a number of years.
