Francis Halcrow

Francis Hardy 'Frank' Halcrow (b. 22 March 1854, Lerwick, d. 9 July 1916, Lerwick) was a Lerwick Town Councillor. The Shetland Times often recorded his middle name as 'Hardie'.
He unsuccessfully contested the 1903 Lerwick Town Council election.
Biography
Frank's father Laurence was a shoemaker in Lerwick, and Frank was educated at the Lerwick Parochial School. Upon leaving education, he joined the North of Scotland and Orkney and Shetland Steam Navigation Company, where he remained employed for his entire career, latterly as Chief Indoor Clerk. His obituary in the Shetland Times notes that "he never ceased to be in sympathy with the workers, in whom he took a special interest", indicating his left leaning political outlook.
