Peter Robertson
Peter Robertson (b. 3 March 1915, 4 Magnus Street, Lerwick, d. 3 January 1997, 16 Harbour Street, Lerwick) was an ironmonger, manager of Stove and Smith's and Lerwick Town Councillor between 1961 and 1970.
Biography
He spent all his working life in Lerwick, getting his first job in 1929 after leaving school aged 14 was as a temporary clerk in a fish curers office in the Lerwick Fish Market. In November of that year, he joined Stove & Smith and stayed working with the firm for 54 years. In later life, he became a Deacon at his church.
He was married twice and had 2 children by his first marriage. His first wife was Ann Brown, a teacher by occupation, and they were married in 1942 by the Rev, George Smith, UF Church Lerwick. Ann died in 1967. Peter remarried in 1970 to Christina Keith, a nurse from Yell, this was in the Congregational Church by Rev, H Woodhouse. Christina died 2 months after Peter.
