Alexander Mitchell (b. 28 April 1827, Tain, Scotland, d. 21 August 1904, Lerwick) was an agent for the Union Bank in Lerwick, and a Lerwick Town Councillor. His son, Alexander was the a County Councillor.

Biography

The Stirling Observer noted that Alexander was a pioneer of many of Doune's best improvements, including founding the Gas-Light Company, the library and Volunteer movement, as well as improvements to paths in the area. He was transferred to Lerwick around 1869.
