Amanda Westlake

Amanda Joan Westlake (nee Hawick) (b. 18 April 1971, Lerwick) is a Shetland Islands Councillor for Lerwick South, a position she has held since 2012.

Biography

Amanda was born in Lerwick and attended Bell's Brae Primary and Anderson High School. She worked in Environmental Health for 11 years before moving to Aberdeen to study at Robert Gordon University where she received a Masters Degree in International Tourism Management. She founded and ran her own business, Blyde-tae-Bide and was appointed as a project manager for Scottish Enterprise before returning to Shetland in 2010.

She currently works for Voluntary Action Shetland supporting Disability Shetland, and has held posts with the Shetland Tourism Association, Lerwick Community Council and the Isleburgh Drama Group. She also served a term on the Shetland Children's Panel.

She was a member of pro-Shetland devolution pressure group Wir Shetland, but quit when the group endorsed Tavish Scott at the 2016 Scottish Parliament Election

She appeared on the cooking TV program Come Dine With Me (season 6, episode 9).
