Gary Robinson

Gary Robinson (b. 4 April 1969) is a Shetland Islands Councillor for the Shetland West ward. Robinson is the current Political Leader of the Council.

He unsuccessfully contested the Lerwick South Central seat at the 2003 Shetland Islands Council election.

Political Career

In 1999, Robinson stood as the Scottish Election as a Conservative candidate, finishing 4th with 8.5% of the vote. Robertson then in 2003 stood for the Shetland Islands Council in the Lerwick South Central as an independent against Gussie Angus, a Liberal Democrat, but did not win the seat. When in 2007 the boundaries of Shetland's constituencies were completely redrawn, Robinson stood for Shetland West, a three-member ward, and was elected together with Florence Grains and Frank Robertson. In 2012, Robinson was successfully re-elected to Shetland West with Frank Robertson and Theo Smith.
