Joseph Garfield Gordon Pole (b. 9 September 1885, Mossbank, Delting, d. 16 November 1965, Lockerbie) was a business partner in Pole, Hoseason and Co. and County Councillor for Delting North between 1922 and 1945.
His father, William was also a county councillor for the same area between 1904 and 1907.
Biography
Through Pole, Hoseason & Co, Joseph was one of the pioneering wool exporters in Shetland. The firm had a knitwear factory in Mossbank for nearly half a century from which he retired in 1947. He then moved to Lockerbie where he opened a shop to retail Shetland woolen products, running the shop until 1964.
