James John Pottinger (b. 9 September 1876, Nesting, d. 8 September 1948, Edinburgh) was a railway goods checker, briefly a Lerwick Town Councillor from 1919 until his resignation in 1921 and a County Councillor for Lerwick Central between 1919 until he resigned in May 1921
