James Smith (b. 14 December 1899, Ulsta, Yell, d. 3 May 1981, Crueton, Bressay) was a merchant seaman and County Councillor for Bressay between 1949 and 1955.
His brother, Prophet, was a councillor for the Lerwick Town Council, Zetland County Council and the Shetland Islands Council, as well as the Labour candidate in the 1945 UK General election for Labour.
