Joan McLeod

Joan McLeod (neé Jarmson) (b. 10 November 1918, Meal, Cunningsburgh, d. 10 December 1999, Overtonlea, Levenwick) was a County Councillor from 1961 until 1975 and a Shetland Islands Councillor from 1974 until 1994.

She unsuccessfully contested the Gulberwick, Quarff & Cunningsburgh seat at the 1994 Shetland Islands Council election.

Biography

Joan spent a great deal of her career in public service, with more than 33 as an elected councillor. She also represented the council on various external bodies, such as the COSLA social work committee and the Aberdeen Town and County Association for Teaching the Blind at their Homes.
