Robert Alexander 'Bingo' Johnson (b. 28 January 1903, Vidlin, d. 11 July 1970, Aberdeen) was a clerk in the office of the Procurator Fiscal and a County Councillor for Gulberwick from 1958 until his death in 1970, also having been the convener.
Biography
Robert was educated in Lerwick. Upon completing school in 1917, he joined the Sheriff Clerk's office. In 1930, he succeeded Archibald Clark as Sheriff Clerk.
He had a key role in the founding of the Scottish National Farmers Union, and was secretary of that organisation for 25 years. He was the secretary of the Shetland Flock Book Society, and the Shetland Cattle Herd Book, as well as a director of the Shetland Lime Ltd.
He was also the Lerwick Up Helly-Aa Guizer Jarl in 1928.
