John left Shetland as a young age and lived in Gateshead for some years, where there exists a large bakery business that was set up by members of his family. Around 1896, he returned to Shetland and opened a dental practice. He retired from his practice in 1935, which was continued by partner G. M. Scott until at least 1958. In 1937 or 1938 he moved to Tynemouth.

John Percy Henderson (b. 2 May 1873, Setter, Burra, d. 16 November 1938, 40 Percy Gardens, Tynemouth) was a dentist in Lerwick, a Lerwick Town Councillor between 1916 and 1919, and County Councillor initially for Delting North between 1907 to 1913, then for Whiteness & Weisdale from 1914 to 1919, and finally for Burra between 1922 and 1938.

He unsuccessfully contested the Delting North seat at the 1913 County Council election.

John left Shetland as a young age and lived in Gateshead for some years, where there exists a large bakery business that was set up by members of his family. In 1937 or 1938 he moved to Tynemouth.
