James Hay

James Johnson Hay (b. 7 August 1877, Mossbank, Delting, d. 11 September 1973, Delting) was an auctioneer and County Councillor first for Delting North between 1913 and 1922, then Whalsay & Skerries from 1937 and 1945 before returning again to Delting North for his final stint, between 1945 and 1952.
He unsuccessfully contested the Delting South seat in the 1922 County Council election, the Sandwick seat in the 1925 election, the 1927 Cunningsburgh County County by-election, the Nesting seat at the 1929 election, 1935 election, and the Whalsay & Skerries seat at the 1938 election.
Biography
James was an Elder in the Church of Scotland and auctioneer.
