George Sinclair

George Sinclair (b. 23 December 1839, Hillock, Dunrossness, d. 28 September 1908, Hawick) was a merchant and County Councillor for Northmavine North between 1892 and 1898.
Sinclair had an extensive business in Ollaberry, the Shetland Tweed Manufacturers. After leaving Shetland he went to manage a farm in South Wales, but then later settled with his family in New York before finally moving to Hawick. He was Chairman of the Northmavine School board for a time.
He unsuccessfully contested the Northmavine North seat at the inaugural Zetland County Council election in 1890.
