The 1890 County Council Election occurred on Tuesday 4 February, with 27 seats contested between 40 candidates. Four seats received no nomination.
This was the first instance of a County Council election in Shetland, and it remained in existence until 1974, when it merged with the Lerwick Town Council (which had been holding elections since 1818) to form the Shetland Islands Council.
